Believe it or not, the average lifespan of carpet only lasts about 8-10 years for most residential homeowners. Whether it’s from wear and tear, stains, or just bad décor, you are most likely to replace your carpet within a ten year period.
That’s not to say that I don’t see households with 20 year old carpet. Vacuuming is recommended daily for high traffic spots and immediately removing a stain is critical to avoid irreparable damage once it soaks in. Also, it’s highly recommended to have your carpets professionally cleaned every six months.
Lastly, spend a little more by investing in a good carpet padding under your carpet and you should see its life extended.
